Ah, sad, unfortunately the video from darrel is already offline. I would have liked to see both sides to get an idea because I respect your two opinions on WordPress topics very much.
“Copycat”? Kadence made a better mousetrap. Just like all the other themes, they were inspired by it and therefore came up with their own take.
I have followed Darrel Wilson for some time now. This disappoints me. He mentions many times how Blocksy contacted him. That makes it very suspicious that he was being paid to make this attack video. I have 3 clients using Blocksy and that will change today.
Seriously you people need not to do this, You need to sort it privately to avoid making confusion to your disciples.
U should have explained u are an associate / partner in Kadence. That should’ve been the right disclosure. Anyway , not to worry , u all give us excellent tutorials! Kind regards
Weird video. People have their opinions. Looks like you’re trying to put down a competitors channel and/or promote Kadence because you’re an affiliate. There’s nothing special about Kadence, Astra and GeneratePress are just as good if not better. I could easily create a video saying your recommendations aren’t always the best option, but why bother? Forget Darrel, do what you do best 👍
Adam, since Darrel apologized, and removed the video from his channel, I would suggest you to think doing the same thing. There is no need on dragging this.
Every industry uses thier competition to get ideas and improve their products… look at car brands, one car offers a neat feature and soon they all do, and the consumer benefits.. I’m sure Darrell’s is using a computer or a phone that has plenty of stolen features and ideas from other brands, it’s just the way things works… MY TIP – I started my first wordpress website in 2019 following one of Derrels tutorial video’s using Ocean wp and Elementor and it was pretty but it is super slow, , I tried Asta and some other popular themes and all were slow. I switched to siteground hosting which increased my speeds a bit but it was still slow with all themes.. I wasted way to many hours trying to speed up my sites. I have 3 websites using ocean WP and Elementor and they are all around 35 to 45 on page speed insights. I started a new blog website in October with the Kadence theme and I built it wirthout Elementor and all my pages load at around 88 to 99 on googles page speed insights and they are fast on Pingdom and GTMetrix. I have discovered that Elementor is slowing down my websites so I don’t know why all you so-called-experts are using it and recommending it for simple blogs and websites. I will be switching over all my websites to Kadence soon and will take screen shots of before and after page speed insights, Pingdom and GTMetrix to see how much they improve . I hope Kadence continues to improve and be free.. By the way, keep up the good work..
Hi everyone, the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Darrel’s video was, hmm, I’m curious to hear what Adam thinks … Now I think Darrel’s opinion is based only on his unique (wrong) impression. For me, the key to this topic is that, when you try out many WP themes you can understand why the similarity between one and the other is so frequent, it happens because, as Adam says in his video, there is an evolution and an innovation by WP over time and in what is requested by users and these things are almost always the same.
The real difference lies in what really works or not.
Build 4 websites a month with Astra, now use Hello theme. Much easier. Just a blank theme.
It’s clear Darrel didn’t do enough research. Shows how before someone makes a video and publishes it they should know what they talking about. Sad when informed isn’t informed at all.

I had issues with kadence theme at some point but now we cool.. its all good.

He’s made his video private so you may as well do the same, as videos that assist people in building their own websites and businesses, is basically the only category of video’s that isn’t in some kind of pointless argument, between people that are losing their sanity over nothing, like wearing a mask to buy a loaf of bread or the shape of the ground beneath our feet. That said, this video was polite and of course necessary, as we know how quick something becomes a trend these days.
Don’t worry, your videos are awesome. I bought generatepress pro from your link and learn to set up my website. We respect you and your videos, we just need to ignore click bait videos of non professional you-tubers. I feel for you that you have been put in that place to make such a video. We are standing with you.

Doesn’t matter. I use Kadence and I like it. I don’t care if they copy or took some ideas from other theme. It’s natural to do so.
I watch a lot of videos on WordPress and related themes, tools, from different reviews. My take away from all this is… how do you trust someones opinion if they are extremely sloppy in presenting their ‘facts/opinions?’ The answer is simple, YOU DON’T! unless purely for entertainment purposes of course. I think Darrel simply made a lot of sloppy mistakes based on the facts presented here.Thank you @WPcrafter.com for illuminating the other side of the story. I know you probably didn’t enjoy making a ‘call out’ video, but to us, the consumers of these products, it’s really important to know and understand all the facts. So in short. GREAT VIDEO especially since you stuck to the facts and evidence, which is the opposite of sloppy.
I pretty much was thinking the exact same when I watched the video…. most themes pretty much work the same, have the same options, icons and images. Very bizzare that quite a few times he said things were IDENTICAL then they very clealry were not.
